Funerals are generally held in crematoriums, in chapels or at a graveside). Be it a celebration of life or a quieter ceremony honouring a life, it can be extremely difficult moment in time for family and friends and those left behind.  This is where a celebrant can help, I would always lead with kindness, gentleness and compassion.  We can sit and chat about the wants and needs of the family and the deceased.  We can create a ceremony that encapsulates their personality and their special moments, be it a full burial and graveside blessing or a cremation service.

This can happen at a place of your choice (obviously in some instances the relevant permissions having been sought and granted.  The scattering of ashes is a memorable moment, to release your loved one to the elements to fly free.  Family and friends can find the scattering of ashes a cathartic moment.  Remembering your loved one in the way you feels right to you.  Having a moment with your own thoughts and reflections is important.  I could help to create this for you and take the lead in their final journey.

There are many areas where you could hold a memorial service.  Be it a community hall, or appropriate building, or even an intimate gathering of loved ones in a place your loved one held dear.  Memorial ceremonies take place following a cremation or funeral at another time, possibly even another place.  This ceremony would give you the chance to remember your loved one with the people that were important in your loved one’s life.  There are many differing reasons for a memorial service, however they will always be unique and guided by you and how your loved one lived.

When the end approaches for some people, they may want to take control and make their own arrangements and in the process need someone independent to speak for them.  This is something I could do.  We could meet, I could listen, we could plan together and you could be assured that you and your families wishes would be carried out the way you wish once the time comes.  There would be absolutely no obligation to take this forward, sometimes just a chat can put everything into perspective.
